To brighten this month that can feel very long (cue the ‘It’s already January 43rd’ memes), we thought we’d kick off our rundown with some glitz and shine. Throw in a delicious scent, an iconic reemergence, and finish up with an appearance from none other than Harry Potter himself. And rest assured, we’re working on a charm-code that will open emails by magic. Erm…Alohomora…? 🪄🤞

1. Astrid & Miyu

SL: Brighten up your January stack

Chosen for: Theme

Astrid & Miyu have found a refreshing theme for January by incorporating birthstones and their related star signs into this email. The imagery showcases the products in a delicate, attractive manner, and the text and zodiac constellation graphic overlay on the hero image is a nice design touch.

2. Gleam

SL: Does Gleam really work?

Chosen for: Design and User Generated Content

We can practically hear the ‘ding!’ upon opening this email from Gleam, thanks to the crisp, clean design and fresh colour palette. UGC works hard to convert the reader to a sale after they’ve signed up for a discount code, using quotes from customers backed up by - what else, other than - photos of their shiny white smiles, of course!

3. Fussy

SL: New Scent: Coconut Milk 🥥😍

Chosen for: Design and Copy

The eye-catching design works beautifully with the coconut theme and even encourages the reader to consider scent with the ‘What does it smell like?’ element. The copy is clear and informative, offering the product information in an interesting and humorous way. We especially like how they’ve incorporated their branding in the ‘reasons to love’ block as Reasons To Be Fussy. Nice work.

4. Adidas

SL: 2000's Running - From then to now.

Chosen for: Design

There’s nothing like a bit of nostalgia in our inbox, especially when it’s from an iconic brand like adidas. We love how the ghostly imagery complements the theme of 'icons from the past’. The black and white shots work wonders alongside the mostly monochrome products featured, elevating the design even further.

5. Harry Potter Wizarding World

SL: Welcome to the Harry Potter Fan Club, Bex

Chosen for: Content

Attention Harry Potter fans/geeks! (insert preferred term here) Here's one for you. Brimming with enchanting content that links to various areas on the fansite, this welcome email really lets us know all the different ways we benefit from our membership. We do think it’s potentially a missed opportunity for some gaming interactivity, but there is a pleasing amount of animation to make up for it.

Hopefully some of these examples have considered you to think about your own email creatives. If you feel inspired to take another look at your designs, rewrite some copy, or get interactive then drop us a message and our team of email wizards will be more than happy to help.
