Finding calm in the Black Friday chaos

Black Friday has a way of making the digital world feel louder than usual. Every screen, tab, and email competes for attention. Every brand has a deal worth shouting about. If you work in CRM, you’re probably right in the thick of it. Campaigns firing. Segments updating. Journeys running. Tests testing. It’s a lot.
But somewhere in the middle of all that noise, it helps to make space for something that often gets forgotten: you. Marketers are brilliant at looking after customers. We build journeys around their needs, shape messages around their behaviour, and optimise for what keeps them engaged. Yet when it comes to ourselves, we tend to forget the basics: move, pause, drink water, breathe, look away from the screen occasionally.
This year, instead of adding to the pressure, we wanted to do the opposite. Below, we’re sharing a few practical ways to find calm in peak season without stepping away from the tools that keep everything moving. A few small shifts can help you keep your head clear and your creativity intact, and these are all things you already know it's just that little helpful reminder.
Move your body
Stretching or stepping outside hits the reset button on overworked thoughts. It doesn’t need to be a big ritual. A quick stretch between emails or a walk between calls can make everything feel less compressed and put you in a better mindset.
Hydrate your hardware
Most of us live on caffeine during this time of year. But newsflash: water is still the thing that keeps you functioning. A sip here and there keeps your brain firing, your focus steady, and your decision-making a bit sharper. So replace that next cuppa with a glass of water, keep hydrated!
Write things down
When everything feels urgent, ideas get fuzzy. Jotting thoughts down helps you get out of your head and make sense of what matters. Whether it’s a to-do list, a half-formed concept, or a subject line you think might work, writing everything down gives your brain room to breathe.
Speak to someone you care about
A short conversation with a friend or colleague resets your perspective in a way scrolling never will. It’s amazing how quickly a chat can unclench your shoulders and soften the chaos.
Why this matters for our industry
CRM teams are the engine rooms of Black Friday. We’re the people making sure messages land, flows trigger, and experiences feel personal even at high volume. That takes clarity, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.
When you look after yourself, those skills feel sharper. You think more clearly. You spot issues earlier. You approach challenges with more patience. You work better with your team. The quality of your output improves. Taking moments to reset isn’t just good for your wellbeing. It’s good for your work.
