Staying connected: the power of in-person interaction

In an age where Zoom fatigue is real and inboxes are overflowing, it’s easy to forget the value of in-person connection. But at ActionRocket, we believe that innovation starts with conversation and sometimes, the best conversations happen face-to-face. Whether it’s flying across the pond to brainstorm big ideas with clients or soaking up the latest Figma updates at design conferences, we’re all about showing up. Here's why that matters, and five ways to build stronger connections in a fast-paced, digital-first world.

Face time fuels creativity

We all know the special spark that ignites from being in the same room. Ideas bounce faster, collaboration feels effortless, and there's a certain magic that video calls just can’t replicate. On a recent team trip to visit TurboTax in the US, we didn’t just align on strategy – we uncovered new opportunities, fast-tracked decisions, and were left buzzing with inspiration. Sometimes, what you need isn’t more slides, it’s more conversations.

IRL builds real relationships

Let’s be honest: relationships are what make good work great. Face-to-face meetings help build trust, rapport, and empathy, all the human things that transform a “supplier” into a strategic partner. Whether it’s an ideation workshop, a coffee catch-up, or co-hosting an event, those moments help us understand our clients better, leading to smarter and more bespoke work.

Industry events = fresh thinking

Staying ahead in marketing means staying curious. Over the past few weeks, our designers hit up the Figma conferences in London and San Francisco, immersing themselves in what’s new and what’s next. The takeaway? Big updates, bold ideas, and a renewed excitement for what’s possible. When we attend these types of events, we don’t just want to consume trends, we want to contribute to them

Skills get sharper when you invest in them

We’re big believers in lifelong learning. That’s why five of our team members sit on creative councils and two are currently enrolled in the DMA Digital Marketing Bootcamp. Not only are they brushing up on core marketing principles, but they’re also future-proofing their knowledge. Whether it’s a course, a workshop or a new qualification, staying connected to your craft means better results for your clients and a more confident, capable team.

Connection is a culture, not a calendar event

Making time to connect shouldn’t be reserved for the occasional client meeting or yearly conference. At ActionRocket, we weave it into our culture, whether that's regular internal skill shares, cross-team creative meetings, or client catch-ups. When connection is built into how you work, it naturally fuels better thinking and deeper relationships.

In a digital world, showing up in person is still one of the most powerful things an agency can do. It builds trust, ignites creativity, and keeps your thinking sharp. So the next time you're planning a client catch-up or eyeing that industry event, go! Be there. Your work (and your relationships) will be better for it.
